He was research fellow at the Internationales Zentrum Kulturwissenschaften in Vienna before moving to the United States, teaching at Cornell, Harvard, and the Pratt Institute.
For five years, André was the editor of Werk, Bauen + Wohnen, a Swiss periodical about architecture and urbanism, and he currently serves as a board member and curator at Zentrum Architektur Zürich, founded in 2016. As a historian, Bideau has studied architecture production and the urban condition since 1968, notably in Germany. His contextualisation of the work of O.M. Ungers in West Berlin and Frankfurt, Architektur und symbolisches Kapital, was published in 2011 by Birkhäuser. His most recent research involves the legacy of architecture art historian André Corboz, whose work André presented in an exhibition at Biblioteca dell’Accademia di architettura in 2018.
